Study: Antarctic snowfall remains static
COLUMBUS, Ohio, Aug. 10 (UPI) -- U.S. researchers say the most precise record of Antarctic snowfall ever generated shows no real increase in precipitation during the past 50 years.

The study's results from the Byrd Polar Research Center at Ohio State University show the snowfall was nearly static, although most computer models assessing global climate change call for an increase in Antarctic precipitation as atmospheric temperatures rise.

"The year-to-year and decadal variability of the snowfall is so large that it makes it nearly impossible to distinguish trends that might be related to climate change from even a 50-year record," said Andrew Monaghan, a center research associate and lead author of the study.

"There were no statistically significant trends in snowfall accumulation over the past five decades, including recent years for which global mean temperatures have been warmest," Monaghan said.

The findings also suggest thickening of Antarctica's massive ice sheets haven't reduced the slow, but steady, rise in global sea levels, as some climate-change critics have argued.

The research is published in Science magazine.

it is all cycles of the earth. But if people finally realize there is no global warming that does not mean we should stop enviromentally friendly innovations

Funny thing is I hear them on TV talking about how this is such a hot summer, droughts etc....And it is all because of Global warming. But the part most people miss is they will say this is the Warmest Summer in 70 years. You see this summer being the hottest is due to Global Warming.

But the fact there was warmer summers say back in the Dust Bowl days of OK. Now that did not happen due to Global warming it was just a hot cycle that came in. But when it is hot today with the liberal media and Al Gore it is Global Warming.

Last years they blamed the Hurricanes on Global warming even though the worse decades of Hurricanes came back 50 to 100 years ago when there was no global warming.

You will never hear about the areas of the earth that the glaciers are growing, you will only hear about the ones that are melting.

If it is a cause that is true and dear to the Liberals then we will never know the truth unless we really dig for it. Liberal Media will make sure we get only their side of the debate.

Ive heard lately that the climate has moved 100 miles north. makes me think about seeing the cattle egrets this far north. i know something going on we had several rounds of golf ball are larger size hail this spring never in my life time has this happened

They were also screaming about Y2K, everything will shut down, car computers will lock up - everything imagineable.

If the earth's atmosphere warms, more moisture will evaporate out of the oceans. It will create more rain. There will be more lightening which is what creates ozone in the first place. Doesn't anyone ever wonder why the earth's balance is where it is after the meteor inflicted ice age?
