what I dont understand is this:

why don't they make cat food flavoured like mouse? or song bird for that matter, or a nice medley of mouse, squirrel, baby rabbit, and sparrow? not to say that they should MAKE the stuff with these poor things in it but? have you ever known a cat to drag a ocean whitefish or cod, or salmon into the house? or lamb and rice? or even a chicken or beef? Um no....

how it happens that the truck pushing you down the highway forcing you to go faster and faster just to keep at least 3 feet between your bumper and his, doesn't get pulled over for speeding or tailgating for that matter, but the trooper waits for the truck to let him in so he can stop YOU for doing a thousand miles an hour over the speed limit. think he will understand when you try to explain you were actually speeding for your own safety?

why does the driver brhind you want to get so close to your rear end? Is he or she going to get there any faster by hanging on your butt? are they fantasizing they are in a race and think that they need to 'draft' their car to get better fuel economy?

the bull you have just untangled from the fence thanks you by making an effort to kick the living crap out of you?

the neighbor that you have gotton out of bed and helped even at the latest of hours in his 'emergency' now has no time to give you a minute of time for a simple job in the middle of the day? he needs to finish that beer first, then he will be over.... still waiting.

why one of my neighbors who collects a SSI disability check for being (alledgedly) legally blind, was able to collect a $250,000 insurance settlement for an auto accident that he was the driver in?

city folks come to the country for the old timey, relaxed ways but get upset when they are asked to wait for anything.

ditto, for when they come and then demand to have a say on how you run your own farm, so it does not impact their sense of vision, smell, or country appeal and charm as they envisioned it from the travel channel or the Currier and Ives calender hanging on their kitchen wall.

why INS comes to our farms looking for illegal mexican immigrant workers (yes I have one part time employee, I don't know if he is legal or not, and I don't care , I know he is not planning to blow anything or anybody up! he is a devote cathlic, and doesn't care that I am not.and likely has no idea what a infidel is) Ummm why aren't they looking for those very bad people that they accidently let in from those certain terrorist sponsoring nations, and then lost track of? hummmmm.

So many people that cry about being jobless get offered work on this or other farms like this and they just won't even think about it? (no wonder these jobs are going to latin immigrants)

How is it the people and businesses you trade with never would even think about discounting any service or items they sell, but let them come to you for something, and these same people get upset because you aren't willing to just give your products to them?

Fuel is going up in price everyday, and little is being said about it........remember the 1970's? the cries were deafening, have they just figured out a way to gouge us with out the outcry?

When did we start equating doctors (woops sorry sweetheart), ahtletes, and movie stars to Gods?

If everyone knows Micheal Jackson is a perv, then why would you let your own kid sleep in the same bed with him?

Speaking of heartless, evil perverts, why is this man who has killed an entire family, and ruined the life of an innocent young girl still breathing OUR good clean air?

Do we really care if Paris Hilton was stupid enough to make a porno movie with some creep she barely knew? Um no......

Why are we still throwing toys and candy bars to kids in iraq, that are blowing us, and each other up? The Islamic television is now officially proclaiming the destruction of non-muslims world wide,Take the PC gloves off and show em what it's all about.

congress offers them selves raises periodicly, but is unwilling to make life financially better for our fighting troops or the families left behind, many of which subsist on food stamps and medicaid, because of poor support services, and lack of prompt medical care. shamefull.

we are willing to warehouse our elderly, as we would an old piece of furniture with little forethought to their happiness and well being? a recent poll showed we spend more time washing and waxing our cars then we do with our own parents... shamefull.

Our livestock, and other animals in this world want simply to survive, our pets to be loved, they have no ulterior motives, no dishonesty, no thieving, not even a single gossip who spews out vulgar words to harm us.........yet we kill and eat them............hey I love steak..............go figure :cboy:

Very good questions, all of them. If you figure out the answers, I would love to know and if I figure them out, I will be sure to PM you! ;-)

Could be called breeding up.

Humor? Oh yeah i have heard of that word.......No, I suspect the reason she married me was kind of like why people would even listen to Howard Stern's radio show. It's not they are not repulsed by him, it's simply because they want to hear what will happen next. thus my wife's ultimate attraction...........has to be, cus i sure aint handsome, or smart, or rich, I most often come in the door reeking of cow or fish poop, and I suppose that leaves only one other thing, that is appealing to her interest in the study of abnormal psycology,(spelling? see us nut's can't even spell!) and no doubt I am a very good specimin of such a creature. :cboy:

Well Crowder... can i take this as a compliment??? Oh please let it be so.......slight hangover this am... not wanting to do much of anything yet....but the list is sooo long...
Yeah, can you see me and Andy Rooney sharing a desk! Haaaw!

Or even better yet, the rural edition of the Howard Stern show...........I can hear it now......his response to anything I said , would be ...'who cares. shut up and pass me the steak and A-1 sauce'. :cboy:

yup WeWild.. you may be very right... I notice that even the finest cows will sometimes take up with a sorry azz rogue bull now and again.............perhaps this is one of those times?

I consider myself lucky...kinda like the geek who scores the homecoming queen....speaking of which.... hey... now that i think of it.........she was homecoming queen! Yup....a very lucky fellow i would say. ;-) :cboy:

Rural/Cow edition of Howard Stern:

Howard: "Wow, that cow has a 'smokin hot bod'"
Robin: Laughs... "Howard, you just want to get her in the head chute"

Think it would go something like that? Now, where would Medic fit in? Hmmmm....

There are many positives in this World. If you want to listen to the news media, you'll find few.If you look around you, you'll see many. I can list more good than bad. That's for sure...

Well, believe it or not, I am truly not a pessimist....I just sometimes have to hop onto that soap box once in a while.

As far as a list of positives... truly don't have enuff time or room for that.... most of that list would be made up of things surrounding my family, friends, church, and farm.

I find that most of the time, I can isolate myself from the world quite nicely by not having a TV or going into town for a few days. I get several newpapers, magazines, and of course the internet, as well as my wife coming home daily and telling me about anything that is worthy to discuss, she has become an expert at filtering out the nonsense, and trivial gossip and news.

I mostly worry about what our daughter is going to be faced with. It's that simple. I assume my parents worried about the very same.. but at some point in time.....all this worry about total chaos and catastrophe will actually come to pass.

I chose to farm for several reasons, many of which encompass the fact that I can remain mostly self sufficient, as well as isolated from most of the negative stuff going on in the world today. I have been out there, seen that , done that. I am not an isolationsit.....I have just had enough is all. I am glad the cattle i raise are MINE , and do not belong to the state.
I am glad to live where i live. I am very greatful for the family I have, and love so much, and as greatful also for the friends that are there through thick and thin.

I am greatful to live in America......no other country in the world besides Australia even comes close in comparision, even with our problems. so... yeah there are lots of positives... so many more........ :cboy:

True, true.

Worrying about our kids - I guess everyone does. The best thing about teaching is that I get to see kids mature and start to make the right decisions, to come up with their own opinions, and to start to stand up for what they believe in. Granted, some have their days  , but for the most part, the most rewarding aspect of my profession is(are?!) the kids. Teaching high school, I get to see a side of them that their parents don't, which is usually a good thing. When we say we hope our kids do ok, that means that we care, and that's the greatest thing a parent can do - at least that's how I feel from a teaching standpoint.

:)

medic24,
Wasn't thinking of your excellent post as a product from a pessimistic person....but, rather a reflection on reality.

It just prompted me to think about the positive things and I was doing a comparison.
