Hi
Im hopefully going to purchase some stud Simmental heifers this year and as im only 16, im hoping that by the time I own a property my stud will be well known.
My question is do you think showing cattle is a worth while way to get your stud known? or just sticking with picking top genetics and working with it and just advertising your sale bulls.

thanks

There are people doing it both ways.
Whatever you choose to do you have to do it well. It is helpful at your age to find a mentor if you haven't already, it doesn't have to someone in the same breed but someone in your area who is successful, someone you might like to model your stud on.
It takes years to build up a good name and only one bad deal to undo it.
These days with things like beef week field days and feedlot trials, there are other ways to get known without having to show your cattle.
