What do you think spring heifer prices will be?

Trying to decide if I should hold back some heifers for our county cattle association sale in March of next year. They would be open yearlings at sale time. I would like to help support the sale but don't want a bid loss either, probably would not be a too big of a loss as I would probably not do over 3 head. Mid 5 weights brought $2.02 last Thursday here. A few more expenses are involve with the sale such as the vet exam and a higher commission than the sale barn. Do you think a man would risk much by saving a few back?

No one really has a crystal ball, but if you're getting $2.02 right now, I think that's low enough I'd keep a couple over... if prices are really too low in the spring, breed them and use them or sell them bred. I think it's always about a break-even proposition once you figure in your time, etc.
I might keep one or two over that I'm on the fence about, if they grow up nicely, I might keep them, and if they don't make the grade, they'll go.
