Well, things with the cattle aren't going all that well around here anyway. Been beat up by the weather and escalating repair and other expenses coupled the lower and lower carrying capacity. It just not worth the effort for what you "might" get out of it. Really wouldn't be giving up much in my opinion except 109 years of my family living on this hill. I'd be able to hold onto the land. I've been freed from feeling guilty about that just as I have about giving up the cattle. Actually looked at some real estate listings tonight...one rather nice looking home about 2 blocks away. It's way to early to even think about doing something like that. Prices seem to be a lot cheaper than in the Bryan/College Station area. Cattle and equipment would easily pay for the home. I'd rent something short term first to see how and if a relationship would work. I don't see how we could grow anything as far apart as we are and she is busy building a secure future for herself. Something she gave up to raise a family. Not going to ask her to give that up. I've done my work... I'd definitely have to find something to do to keep busy, but the necessity for a paycheck aren't what it used to be. Front door greeter at Wallyworld is more financial rewarding than around here lately so No, I'm not bound down by these cattle anymore.
