Yes, hello, I'm new and very green. Just thought I'd introduce myself before heading straight into the discussions.
I have recently inherited all of the farm activities as DH is in the hospital with a broken leg.
I live in Canada but I'm from the southwest (California & Arizona). We have 150 acres, it's a tree plantation and as the trees are being harvested we are creating pastures in some areas. The soil is rich loamy clay--- great for growing hay and pasturing ruminents.
We tried sheep but didn't like them much. We now have horses and one beef cow and her new calf. My immediate question is about the calf but I'll ask it in the appropriate section.
