Went to the cow sale Tuesday Mar 22

Went to the cow sale in Athens Tennessee. The prices on 3n1s, Pairs and bred cows were really off!!! I have not been in a couple months and buddy was I shocked. Prices on the internet, private sales are no where close to the sale barn price.
Ex: 3n1 nice black cow calf, bred back 4mos- sold 1600. Out of a herd of 20 selling.
Ex: Nice black bred back 6-8 mos cows sold for 1,000 to 1200. Same herd.

I was there, most of those cows had what I assume was their birth date in their ear and they were a lot older than they looked. A couple of the nicest looking ones were 04 models if the date in their ear was right. I didn't see any of the tags that I looked at that were under 9 years old off that herd. They have had 20 off that guy both of the last two weeks, the ones sold two weeks ago were better cows and sold better but they weren't any younger.

It gets pretty tough to guess ages on a lot of those cows over there when they don't mouth them. I've bought a lot of cows out of there and I've been fooled a few times.

Yeah I couldnt see the birthdates, but thought they were middle aged cows. Still thought they were cheap imo.
