Last weekend I picked up a few (4) bred cows, 4-6 months bred. Seem to be well behaved, calm cows. They look like they have Senepol in them. What do yall think?

They were bought off of a trader type fellow I have done business with before. They came from the sale barn originally so, there is no telling how they are bred......my luck would be they are bred to something with a head the size of a Kenworth and horns suitable for a 71' Caddy.

Hook, I got right at 850 avg, came from Ocala.

I'm am impressed with this set as they seem very well adjusted to their new program, maybe I can get some decent calves off of them and make a dollar or two in the process.

If its the fellow I'm thinking of, and he bred them, then they are bred to char or black according to him

The 2 lighter colored ones are branded with an "R" on the right hip. Below the R brand are numbers.

They look good to me. I guess no idea what they are bred to but what will you breed em back with if they do right?

Well, I have been looking for a more uniformed herd, got a "motley crew" going now. "IF" they do right, I might consider AI'ing them to senepol and purchasing additional. I would consider a Hereford and/or a Black Brangus once I get the numbers and quality I would want out of a "purebred" senepol type herd.

To maintain the heat tolerance once you have your upgraded herd, you might want to look at Bonsmara, the crosses I have seen in South Africa were impressive, and the cross expresses a higher than average heterosis.

Or he could breed them back to a Red Poll bull... :D

Here is a few from today.

They are not spooked by Little Miss Motor Mouth. She is saying "HI BOOOOOO'S" in her loudest outside voice.
