I don't think the doctors are on the free lunch side of things. We need tort reform, we need to not pay for illegals health care, and insurance companies should not be bound by states. Jo, I don't know of anyone going to the UK for the latest and greatest procedure. The Brits may like the financial part until they really need something in the end, there will be limitations. They have a much higher death loss than we do. You know that anything the government touches, it breaks. Let the system work without all the strings. Healthcare isn't free. Food isn't free. But we want it to be so we can spend money on stuff we want. Medicare is horrid, and that is governments track record. VA is the other. I don't want it. Everyone that is against doctors making money.... Do you want bubba behind the counter at the quickie mart cutting on you? These people went to school for YEARS without pay, paying hundreds of thousands hundreds dollars in loans, have high malpractice insurance, and limited working years when it's done. They should be able to recoup some of their losses and risks without others determining what their worth. I want bright people working on me. I don't want someone determining what I'm worth. It is a slippery slope we are too eager to jump on. The issue is the ability of medicine at present, to do amazing things, but it comes at a cost. And people that are in the system for free are driving up the cost some, but there are ways to deal with this. Scraping our whole system is not the way. 1. Illegals- so sorry, you pay cash or go home- you choose. 2. Medicare recipients, create centers for them to use to not cause a strain on the other facilities, and to cut waste. It will require far less oversight. 3. Open up competition throughout the country for insurers to compete. 4. Open up competition for medications and equipment. 5. Tort reform, and control malpractice costs. 6. If you don't qualify for Medicare/Medicaid and you don't have insurance, pay cash, or take out a loan. Otherwise, that is your gamble. They can be filtered into the Medicare system with its limitations once their property has been auctioned to satisfy as much of the debt as possible. It would take very little time for people to find an insurance plan, sign up for medicare/caid or decide how necessary the need is. We need some reality in this country. Life isn't free. It won't be free and shouldn't be free, but it will be more inline with appropriate costs.
