Weather wrong for Weaning

I learned another valuable lesson today. If your house is close to the pens you are weaning calves in and close to fence line with the mothers. It would better to wean when it was a little colder or little hotter.

We are at that point were you turn off the Air, and open all the windows up. All I can hear echoing through the house is Moooooo moooooo, :lol:

Doesn't matter whether the windows are open or not, all I hear for 3 or 4 days is momma's and babies raising cain! I have to crank up the radio to drown 'em out so I can sleep. :lol: :lol:

Depends 4 of them might be show calves for the kids. You know the True petting cattle. If it turns out we show some of them then that for sure is the sound of money, but not income money but big feed bill money. I can hear them moooooing now for some of that expensive grain.

That's the sound of money out the window. I enjoy reading the studies about how far weaning sets calves back. Their results go from one end of the spectrum to the other.

I asked my daughter today how the calves were doing. She told me she was worried about one of them they call baby face. She said Baby face has a sore throat. She was really concerned about it. :lol:

I just took a calf off its momma, and being the momma is usually so content and happy, I rarely hear a peep out of her -- until now. Even through closed windows she lets me know how miserable she is ......
