Been a while since I've given everyone a report on the weather here in parts of Australia. Well up north in Queensland the banana and sugar cane crops and homes and businesses have been devastated by category 5 cyclone "Larry". The north west coast is about to be hit by another category 5 "Glenda" its less populated over there so has more of a chance to do less harm.
80% of Australia's banana crop has gone and a significant amount of cane. The bananas were only about two weeks off picking. There was no loss of life thanks in part to lessons learned from hurricane Katrina. The state was quick to declare a state of emergency whereby giving police powers to remove persons from their homes with force if need be. It worked.
Most Australians are common sense people, especially those out in the country, couldn't say the same for some city dwellers.
Our area could do with about 2/3 inches of rain to set us up for winter. Parts of our state are very dry and parts of the state to our north. Temperatures are starting to drop overnight, coolest so far has been 3 C but most mornings are around 10/12. Our days have been 23 to 25C so they are just nice to be outside doing work.
The garden is planted for winter, got some hay in the shed with some more to come in about a month.
Is it warming up in Canada and the US yet?
