Wife and I both ran for city council in our little town in NE Alabama. We both got the same number of votes and both got 53 % of the vote . I ran in place 2 and she ran in place 4. The funny thing about us running is we had both talked about the need for some responsible person to run . The last day to sign up I was in the hay field all day . I stopped by the city hall that morning and filled out the paperwork and didn’t call her. Didn’t get home till dark thirty. She went late that afternoon and did the same. So here we are , for better or worse. We’ve been married for 46 years and been a couple since high school over 52 years . Hope this don’t cause a divorce! 😁

Congrats! Did ya have to do much active campaigning? It's been my observation that winning the 1st go round is lots easier than getting re elected.

Buying lots of beer and drinks at the honkeytonks and beer joints seems to work around here.
I had an old uncle that had a dairy and raised dry land cotton over in Divide TX and ran for county commissioner and he Won handily but next time out, it turned ugly and into a slugfest. Years later, my aunt (his widow) told me he never really recovered from the physical and emotional rigors of that re election campaign. (He lost)

Bought 10 campaign signs for each of us . Put one on each road coming into town . Visited probably 10-15 folks I knew , posted a little on two faced book and went about my normal activities. Nothing special . I taught and coached for 28 of my 30 Years in education in our school. Folks know who and what I am , for better or worse . Like me or hate me , as Popeye use to say : I am what I am .

Political votes are usually swayed by money, booze, or sex. I think that you are in a good position. Seriously though, I think that most people pay way too little attention to local politics that has much more affect on your day to day life than any federal office. Congratulations.

I am the chair of the local soil and water conservation district and nobody has offered me any money, booze, or sex. What is the deal? Do I need to get elected to a higher office or something?

I think you live in the location. When I was building in Craig Colorado we had a new building inspector that had move from California. When he was inspector there he had people several $100 bills rolled up in some building plans in hopes that would help expedite the permitting process. I don't remember if he took the money; he never really said he did, but didn't say he didn't, and I was not going to ask.

Taking small steps in our little town. Planning a Christmas parade in December. Haven’t had one in years . Folks are excited and really jumping on board to be in it ! After the parade we are going to the local park where there will be food vendors and crafts for sale . I’ve been asked by the mayor to drive my tractor 🚜 in the parade . Going to paint up 2 bales of hay like Rudolph and the Grinch. One on the front the other on the rear . Praying for good weather.
