We transplanted some big black spruce trees with a truck mounted spade. I have been giving them each 50 gallons of water a week - - which seems to be working. Any idea how long or how much I should continue to deliver water?

I once moved a 20 acre pine seed orchard and the trees were that tall or taller. I can't remember us ever giving them anymore than one drink to fill any air pockets. I used a tree spade which held the root ball in place but I also moved them during the late fall. If you did something similar then as long as you aren't in a drought a couple of weeks should be plenty. Applying a little phosphorous and potash might also help stimulate the growth of feeder roots.
