It was a nice heavy racked 10 point that weighed around 230 lbs. In the UK, he said shooting a deer like this would cost upwards around $1400 and that is just for the animal itself. He was really tickled with it as was I. What pleased me the most is I had seen some signs of this deer and thought it was using a certain draw to go to a field to bed down so we moved a stand to intercept the path and the next day the buck came through just as I predicted. In return, I have been invited to a "gentleman's pheasant hunt" in the UK. This was a new one on me but it sounds rather fun. There will be around 40 or so drivers pushing the pheasant and grouse toward the shooters. I will, of course, be dressed in tweed with a pair of wellies on and one of those funky caps, and I will be given two shotguns and a person to load and hand the guns to me after I empty them. Afterwards, we will drink beer and they will laugh at my accent and I theirs. I'd like to take them up on the offer but I don't know how a redneck will fare in the UK. If you know anyone who is going to try and export a trophy just p.m me and I can save you a lot of headache. The process isn't that complicated IF you know what you are supposed to do and you get off on the right foot. The problem is that very few people in the government understand how to do it properly and it was all this misinformation that made it so frustrating because the bottom line is they just want your money. In total, we spoke to over 20 people and only three of them had a clue.
