water trough cleaness?

I water my feeder calves in a 110 gal. water trough that has a float valve on it that keeps it full 24/7 Should I add anything to it ever so often to keep the water a little cleaner? The hotter the temp gets the more stuff I see swimming around in there. It's well water so it has no chlorine or anything like that in it.

I drain mine and rinse it out every 3 or 4 years, whether it needs it or not.

Go buy a floating swimming pool chlorinater and some chlorinating tablets and throw it in the tank. The green will go away in a couple of days.

A cow will pee and poop in the water she is standing in and then reach down and drink it so a little green is no big deal.
