First we had a week or two with low temperatures around 10 degrees. I don't know how deep the ground froze but i am sure it froze some. Then we had 3 days where it snowed but we were just below the snow level. So it fell as snow but didn't stick. Then yesterday it rained. Not terrible hard but steady all day. All of the hay meadows look like they have been flood irrigated. Standing water every where. And being winter all the cows are on those wet hay meadows. I made some pretty good ruts going out to feed. I am sure everyone else did too.
But if you don't like the weather just wait a couple minutes. Has night the TV went on the blink. Looked out the window and the rain had turned to snow. We had a couple of inches of fresh heavy snow. I am sure I need to sweep the snow off the satilite dish. It was nearly bed time so I said I will worry about that in the morning.

Ground has been sloppy here also. I changed pastures the other day, thought, well what now? 70deg. Well, I can cut up the leftover hay in the pasture they just vacated. So I was ok until I got stuck and made some mud holes in the pasture.......
More rain for the next couple days.
Ok, what can I ruin next......

This morning I stayed closer to the river where it is all old gravel bars. Only a couple inches of dirt on top of serious river rock. I will feed there for the rest of the week. According to the weather guessers starting Sunday it doesn't get above freezing for about a week. I will be able to feed anywhere I want to then.

"but if you don't like the weather just wait a couple minutes"

i always thought that was a statement of texas origin.
but will gladly share. no wish to share the 10 degrees though, 70's here now.

10 degrees isn't bad. And 70 is nice. But 80 is getting too hot. And humidity so high that you are breathing water isn't for me. It will be in single digits next week. I will have to put on my long handles but it keeps the riff raff from settling here.

i had mentioned somewhere having a grandson moved to medford. said was always nice there only cold when they went skiing. don't know your distance but 100 miles or so can be a big temp change. good luck with the single digits

Medford is over in the southwest corner of the state. I am in the northeast corner. He is nearly to California and a little ways from the ocean. I am about 25 from Idaho and it is about 400 miles to the ocean from here. We are just about as far apart as you can be and both still be in Oregon. Single digits aren't bad. We only get them for a few days per year.

@Dave, I know both areas. Where I am currently, Ohio River, I'm in an area more similar to either of the areas you are talking about than they are to each other.
