For those of you down there who got hit by that snowstorm, how do you think your pasture's gonna hold up? Seems like when you get a bit of snow like that, it might not be all that great for those grasses grown for warm temps only.

Just curious.

We didn't have snow, just lots of ice. All of the warm season grasses go dormant around here. We have oats, rye, and clover that do just fine with the short freeze that we have from time to time.
I don't know how you people up north deal with cold for such a long time. Myself, I'm ready for that 102 degree summertime.

As was said, the warm season grasses are all dormant now. The problem I've seen is that much of it broke off at the crown from the weight of the ice. That's the only part that has me concerned about it coming back. I'll know better in June. The annual rye grass is all black and slimey. Won;t know for a couple of weeks, if we get semi-normal weather, if the plant has died or just the tops.

Yeah, but even if they;re dormant, I still think that the cold and ice could do some damage. I guess you'll find out in the spring, now, won;t you?

Most WSG is fairly deep rooted but some are more prone to suffer adversly from frost heaving then others.
