Warm Dry Winter Predicted

I don't take much of what a weather man says these day as they have predicted for the last 2 years that the Gulf would be more active with hurricanes then they have. Just my opinion. It is hard for anyone to predict weather in the South especially around the Gulf.
 
I'm going to have to show this to the squirrels. They've stripped every walnut off the trees, this afternoon I saw a grand total of maybe a dozen walnuts on the gorund under 35-40 trees.

I HAVE HEARD IN THE PAST -ONE EXTREME LEADS TO ANOTHER . IF THATS THE CASE IT SHOULD BE COLD & WET HERE.

Please explain in more detail. I'd prefer the signs over our meteor girl. She can't seem to be able to predict what the weather is going to do tomorrow much less a week or month from now.
 
Haven;t split any persimmons pits yet this year. The critters have pretty well stripped what few there were.
The signs are a nife will be a mild winter, spoon means lots of snow and a fork means a cold hard winter
 
Well Dun, grandpa told me different. The knife was a hard cold winter, the fork was a mild winter and the spoon was a heavy snow winter. Last year was a spoon and we got 20 inches of snow in one day and night. Along with ice and sleet.

Looked at another site and they claim that the knife means a cutting cold winter and a fork means not much snow. About the only thing that all of the various folkloare type deals agree on is the spoon is snow. I checked a half dozen seeds yesterday and every one had a knife. Haven;t seen any woolybears yet so I don;t know what they are predicting. Nedxt March we'll know what the signs all meant.

Saw three of them about 2 weeks ago. Two were on crutches and the other one was limping. I think they all dried up. :) Had to blow the dust off them to see what color they were. All were black.
 
Noticed last night that the first calf heifers have started getting wooly. Seems like overnight they went from slick as a hound to looking like sheep. : )

Strangely, haven;t seen any at all this year. I've looked in all the usual places that we've had them in the past and nothing.
 
We're expecting more snow than usual...oh joy...will chain up the old Ollie when the tire gets back from the shop and get the blade mounted...like a three point is work, but then at my age I like to make a project out of most tasks and reward myself with a nap when I'd finished.

I am hoping and praying for a rip-snorting winter with lots and lots of snow! No, I don't enjoy dealing with the snow - but with the prolonged drought we've had, if we don't get some relief soon we will be out of water in another year or two.

I've seen more yellow jacket nests this year than I ever have. Most are below head high, some just a few feet off the ground and built in relatively unsheltered locations.

Which means :?:

I've always heard the high hornet's nest means a snowy rough winter while the low hornet's nest is a sign for a milder winter.

I'm yet to even see a Hornet's nest this year. was so hot and dry, there's hardly any wasps either.
