I am just curious to know what everyone thinks is a fair wage for work on a cow/calf operation? The outift is owned by a Middle School Prinicipal and I am her primary and sometimes only worker.

I don't expect to get rich but I do expect a fair wage for lots of hours put in.

Any thoughts?

That's a tough call since it would depend on your job description and abilities. I pay anywhere from $6 - $15 per hour but I prefer to pay by the job. I can evaluate your worth better by seeing what you can do in a given amount of time. Its not how hard you work but what you get accomplished in a day.

It all depends on the economy for your given area. Right now things are booming around here. It is hard to find dependable help.

No matter who I have been employed by, they make money on me. If someone is getting paid more than what their return is, you can betcha that is soon to be a cut. So if you can make your employer money, he/she is gonna take note.

$10 per hour for basic work.

$150 per day when you bring a horse for the roundup.

You need to find out what everyone else in your area with your experience and job description is being paid.Only you can answer that question.

In Wyoming a hand gets $1200 to $1600/month plus housing and half a beef/year. Day workers get $60 to $80/day regardless of how many hours. Day workers get fed lunch, too.

A good hand that ain't afraid of getting off his/her horse can get maybe $2100/month plus housing just for not giving the boss grief about not all the work being horseback. (ex. haying, fencing, cleaning gutters, etc.)

our hired hand gets 20 dollars an hour. but he does really good hard dependable work. and has been working for us since before i was born. it basically all comes down to you and what your willing to put into the job.
