oakdale aint that a retirement area for the geritol cowboys :cboy:

Geritol cowboys are senior citizen cowboys, Isaac.

Geritol is, or was, an elixer that was marketed as something that would keep you feeling young!

Google it...it's kinda funny...

Alice :)

Well Pleasanton Texas is billed as "The Birthplace of the Cowboy". So I guess they are born there, move to Stephenville and then retire to Oakdale.   Z

If had to pick between those places to live, I'd pick Stephenville.

Well I lived in Atascosa County (Pleasanton) for seven years and it's about as close to being a third world country as you can get. The economy is only slightly better then Bagladesh.Z

I guess I know what you mean. Ive been through that county.

20 s0ke odd years ago Oakdale was really a nice place/area. I understand that most of the rolling hills have been clraed of the Oak dales and been turned into ranchettes. But the best thing about that area was the fresh produce stands all over the place. Don;t have to raise veggies yourself when you can drive a couple of miles and get stuff that was picked within an hour or so. It also used to be aq really friendly place, don;t recall anyone being considered an outsider except the coastl folk on their way to Yosemite.

dun

Well as far as I Know Oakdale Is The COWBOY Capital Of The WORLD. I Have Always Know That Good Cowboys Have Been Around Oakdale But Recently I Seen A Show Like On One Of Those Discovey Channels And It Was Talking About The Cowboy Capital Of The World And How Other Places Claimed They Where But When Fact Came Into Play Oakdale Had More World Champs Living In One Town / City And It Was Like 11-12 I Really Dont Remember

Hmm, let me see if I got this right. Oakdale is a city? Oakdale has more cowboys living there than any other city?

Im sorry, I may just be a dumb Okie, but where I come from Cowboys dont live in the city, so I dont imagine it would be that difficult to have more in your city than one around here. I guess the "working" cowboys around here just arent as far advanced as your "Hollywood" Cowboys.

You got anybody like Bill Picket there? He didnt live in any city thats for sure.

PS: Im just joshing you, but what are you guys going to call yourself if three of them pass on or move. The City Formely Known as the Cowboy Capital of the World.

Theres still a big difference in Rodeo cowboys and cowboys the last time I checked. JK , they have plenty of those " Brokeback" cowboys in Cali though.

I just Googled it and Banderas and Stephensville Texas both claim thery are the Cowboy Capital of the World as well.

Banderas said they were confirmed as the cowboy capital while the Cowboy museum in Oakdale says there status is unofficial.

Aunt Alice says its Stephensville and thats good enough for me.
