thought i would throw this out to some of you from the area or that have frequented KC often. I'm going there toward the end of August and looking for some good places to eat. Any suggestions?

Hope you enjoy KC, some pretty good folks up there.

Couple of suggestions, when you are traveling, don't eat anything off the menu that had to travel farther than you did to get there.

You can not go wrong with BBQ in KC. They are very good at it.

I've already got BBQ down as a to do.
so based on the "don't eat anything that had to travel further than you" take, that i should stay away from seafood.

I'm with Dub, Arthur Bryants, Gates, or there's a little place out in Lee's Summit called "The filling Station" that is pretty good too.

I always liked the Steaks there! Some people say it is the best steak to be had. But yes it is expensive.

Diehard----What kind of food are you wanting to eat? If you like Cajun food there is a place by the KU Medical Center that can not be beat. Jazz's Louisiana Kitchen! We drive 2 1/2 hours to eat there sometimes!

We frequent KC so if you let me know what you are wanting I will try to help you!

Like if you have kids and want a burger place there is a place were you order your food on a phone and a train around the ceiling brings your food and drops it off down an elevator to your table with out ever a waitress.

Just let me know the type of food and atmosphere and I would be glad to help.

Seafood there is actually really good. McCormick and Schmidts on the Plaza has great seafood.

You are welcome! I say Hereford house for Steak, expensive but the porterhouse steak is pretty famous in KC and there is one down by the stock yards also that has a great reputation. Forget the name of it.

And there are lots of Gates BBQ places that are pretty awesome BBQ.

The place by the stock yards is Golden Ox. Gates is very good, some people like Arthur Bryant's, but it's not my favorite. If you want Arthur Bryant's, go during the daytime or go to Ameristar Casino. There's one there too. The Bryant's downtown is in a section of town you do not want to be in after dark. You'd need two mean dogs and a 45.

Hereford House is good, as is Plaza III and Majestic SteakHouse, I've been told. I don't think any of them are close to cheap though.

Another good place to eat is Stroud's, famous for their fried chicken with home style cooking and it's reasonable.
