...after reviewing postings of a couple of Vindicator breeders, it dawned on me that a portion of these Vindicator supporters are very rude to hard working cowboyz like us. I read it over an over, with the same posters. The further and further I read about these supporters made me wonder about other patterns....like lack of education prompted by lack of proper spelling of wurds without making typos and not paying attention to EPDS, just looks, and bragging about how their cattle is the best in the solar system. Jethro Bodine could spell better, don't you agree?

What I am tired of hearing Is a lot of people I highly respect talking like teenagers.
I do not care for the way some people talk. It is my choice to read their post or not.
If I read their post it is my choice to respond or not.
In many ways the response is as bad as what they are critisizing Just in other words.
The really bad part is that they keep adding fuel to the fire and just do not know when to quit. You get someone down on the ground and just keep on kicking.
Now just how grown up is that?

Sorry to ask this question, but since you mention Vindicator....
about a month ago there was a movie on the Western channel with James Stewart (I think it was 1952 or 1962 western) and it was about a woman and her daughter who brought hereford to Texas to prove they could survive Texas weather and bred to Longhorns. The hereford bull they said was Vindicator.... does anyone know if it was the actual "Vindicator" bull or not???
I tried to read all the credits after the film but did not see any mention of the bull.
Just a curious mind wanting to know.... thanks.

I actually like both Keynote and Vindicator. I'm glad that were both alive and very active within the breed. They both provided excellent lines that are still productive today. As KNERSIE said in an early post, there's room for both of them (and their progeny) in the breed.

Neither Vindicator nor Keynote can be claimed to suit my environment better as they haven't both been tested here. Actually very few USA bulls fare very well here in the first generation. Their value comes out when their sons are used back on local bloodlines. Then they will typically aid milk, post weaning growth while the SA lines add hardiness, muscle and hair quality.
In sustained cattle farming, moderation is the key to longevity, not only in your cowherd, but also in your business venture when it comes to cattle. Keeping this in mind in a theoretical way I'd have to say direct progeny of Vindicator might be better suited, but like I said direct progeny will likely struggle to compete, but may add in a breeding program through certain traits they are stronger than our local cattle.
I have no idea what the average annual temperature is, but the minimum is about -5C and the maximum we reach is 46C. (23F - 115F). Our annual rainfall is between 10 and 12 inches a year all in winter. We get no rain from October to April just one dry heat wave after the other. Latitude I'll have to look up.

I seem to recall herford being in grandpa,s herd before the fifty's. It wasn't just him, they seemed to be the primary breed for the area.
