I am all for RFID but it baffles me why the industry want to assign a permanent number to a temporary ID method such as an ear tag and still call it permanent.

my bulls were all tagged at the BCIA bull test and I have yet to have one retain his permanent ID beyond his third birthday. similarly most of our cows were retagged at least once prior to being four years old. Yes I counted em.

ear implants seem to be a more logical choice backed up by a temporary tag.
