A old 72 Chevy pick up from a pool company that was completely rusted out. Gave $450 for it and drove it till the spring hanger -frame rotted out and left me stranded.

69 chevy Nova/SS with the 396
actually a pretty rare car, with the BIg Block..had a RS/SS big block camaro for about a week and a half...before I left the engine scattered from my grandmaws to the gas station...it took me a couple of those rat engines before I figured out you couldnt twist them up as tight as a small block..

Ford Escort. It was used. And old. And slow. I called it The Turtle. But I could put the back seat down and haul two large three string bales of alfalfa back there with the hatchback closed. Then, the cars would back up behind me as I climbed the hill on the little two lane back to the barn.

Finally got a pick up and have had one ever since. My old F150 was even shipped to and from Guam when I was stationed there for a year (courtesy of the military). All the locals had little Toyota pickups and the whole family frequently rode in the back, island style. They teased me about having a "Guamanian Limo"! Upgraded from an F150 to an F250 when I went from enlisted to officer in the USN. Ordered it so I could get stick shift and no bells or whistles (which added too much $$$). My current F250 is pushing 100K miles.

Lawdy that car was scary fast.

When I worked for the police right after high school (saving up for college) those things got broken into left and right. Great cars, but a screwdriver in the lock made for easy entry.

I sure do miss Guam. When where you posted there?

I did have one chick magnet. I had a 69 GTO, wish I still did.
Totaled it on a cow in 1973 one dark night. I might should have said cows as it was a five car pile up. Looked like an audition for a Dukes of Hazard show.

I had a '69 GTO. I believe it was 1973 when I totaled it too. So guy took a left turn right in front of me.

My first car was a 1981 Volkswagen Rabbit 38mpg 5 speed as gas prices were high then. I put almost 100k on it until that tree was in the wrong place.

I think it was around 77 when I bought the truck? I drove before that but it wasn't my vehicle. We're both senior citizens your just 8 years older.

Summer 1998 through summer 1999. I was after the plane crash (they still had the trailers there) but in time for Pres. Clinton's visit to support the governor's re-election. The people I worked with and the local people were awesome. I worked in ICU at the Naval Hospital (I was a corpsman). Gov Guam was weird, though. Driving around in fancy SUV motorcades while many of their people didn't even have windows repaired from the last super typhoon.

3000 rpm, dump the clutch walla no more differential.

'68 mustang fastback, automatic, boss 302, O tires on back, side exhaust with thrust mufflers.
Would squall tires, if floored, at 55 miles per hour. GS

My first car was also me and the wife's first car. Had to use the family car while in high school and college.
It was a 1956 rocket 88 Oldsmobile two door hardtop baby blue and white cash price $750 dollars with 18000 miles on it. I missed some good buys but my dad kept a tight rein on the spending. In 1958 had a chance to buy a 1954 corvette. Dad said that was not very reasonable as it could haul only two folks. Could have bought it for $850.
