What does your vaccination program consist of what shots do you give, do you use pour on or injectable wormer? What time of year do you vaccinate. What do you do for your older cows while they are going thru the chute? Nosy ain't I, no it's just everything you read tells you to work with your vet, well our vet is about as onery as anyone can be. I would like to hear what you all do year in and year out.

We give our cows Express 10 in the spring before breeding. That covers BVD, IBR, PI3. In the fall they get a dose of pour on ivermectin. The thinner cows will get a dose of injectable ivermectin if they don't start to pick up once the calves are weaned.

The calves get injectable ivermectin and an 8-way clostridial at branding. In the fall the replacements get pour-on ivermectin, 8-way and we were giving Breedback 9 to them as well.

Changed our program this year.
Fall/weaning. Cows are poured with a liquid (Ivomec).
Replacement calves; Bovi Shield Gold 5 and 7-Way with pasturella. Bangs will also be done.
Heifers Scour Boss 9. Poured.
Main herd just before calving Scour Boss 9 and poured again.
Heifers are repeated with Scour Boss 9 and poured again.
Calves will be vaccs with Bovi Shield Gold 5 before they are turned out with the bull.

Had a lice problem a few years ago so we now pour everything twice a year. Pour on works the best for us as we hit them as they head out the gate
Cows were given a Vista 5 sq this spring. Next spring they will get the Bovi Shield Gold 5 before the bull is turned out.
We rotate the brand of pour on, so the parasites do not become resistant.

Same here but we use the Pfizer products. And we do the bulls at their breeding soundness evaluations in the spring. No sense in processing 2000# nutters twice.
But our calves get their first shots in may when we do the cows and they get colostridial(SP) 8 way, one shot for pnemonia and Resvac for BVD type one and two/IBR and a few others

Every 6 months I use pour on dewormer. Killed IBR PI3 BVD1&2 BRSV. Pastuerella to cows. April & Oct. are the 2times I use. Some of mine are in barn. The ones outside do well. I've had lesser problems.Live vaccine use when cows have thier calves. Cows due to calve should have vaccines to protect the calf some of these is a better way to protect the calf. I've done cows &calves for awhile. I know some of the cows getting certin vaccines not only protects the calf as soon as its born saves alot of problems. I' ve seen calves die 7 days after born without certin vaccinations. That could of surrvived. It'ssomething to think about & ask your vet.I've bought cows, bulls,& calves out of sale barns for awhile.Last year I had to learn what I'm doing now. I'm now doing well with it.weather is the source of problems.
