Vacation Planning

I am planning our family vacation this year and this will definately be one of the places I will take the kids too. This isn't too far from where I grew up at and I spent many a day there fishing and running around the grass as well as touring the insides of the mill. The place is called Mabry Mill if you like old mills and are traveling through Va or live here and never been I would suggest a trip there. I think the kids will like it if not I know my wife will.

We share property lines with the Blue Ridge Parkway in one portion of Floyd County and I could walk about 200 yds and be right on the parkway road. I use to ride my old honda 3 wheeler to different parts of the parkway to the stop offs and look over the mountains it was great. I met alot of horse rideers that just rode up and down the parkway.

I have never made it up into your neck of the woods on the parkway Sky, Roanoke is as far north as we have made it. Driving the Parkway is my wife and I favorite pastime, with the section from the beginning at Cherokee, NC to Ashville, NC across Mt. Pisga being our favorite. We have always wanted to go on up the parkway into the Shenandoah Valley to the end of Skyline Dr, but have not made it yet. Maybe someday.

The portion I grew up at is about an hour from Roanoke. There is back roads you can take from roanoke to get there but we take the route that takes you up Bent mountain,va Have you ever heard of it? I now live on the other end of the state and its a 4 hr drive from me. I frequent Cherokee NC quite a bit. I tell you what make that trip someday its a nice trip nice people and nice scenery. If you can go in the fall of course. Bent Mtn Va is a nice place and you get some good scenery and pics there.

I rode my motorcycle up and down the mountain for about 2 hours one day with friends. I found some videos on youtube from other people to show you bent mountain

Sky... I do a lot of business with a company located in Meadows of Dan, VA. The mill is really close and I have had many a lunch and breakfast there!

TN thats cool. The only business we use to do in Meadows of Dan was the Ford/New Holland dealer there lol They have some good restaurants there.

I was up there last week and it looked like that NH dealership was out of business. The company I work with is Aerial Machine and Tool.

Yeah. Had a going out of business auction last year.
