ANAZAZI, are power lines on poles in Sweden or underground? ROW's for power lines take up a huge amount of real estate.

Most powerlines go on poles;some wooden and some out of metal. And yes they take a lot of space from forestry and infrastructure but grazing goes on here and there. Some say that cows that spend too much time under the lines will be hard to get pregnant but I do not know.

It couldn't be good to spend much of your life under a 600,000 volt powerline. My cows don't spend more than a month or so under that line, less than that actually as they have free access to surrounding areas. Between seasons. That field is used to grow and bale hay from most of the year.

The fly tags you are using, do they work better than the pyreiod and organo. ones. Don't know how to spell it.

we have those powerlines too in the back. i wanted to build my house back there at one time but now i cant even ride under them without a sizzling sensation in my head..

wait- are yours wooden? they took down our wooden ones on account of woodpeckers and put up cement ones. no more woodpeckers but now the buzzards roost on them, lol.

Beefy, yes they're wood poles. Ga. Power wrapped them in hardware cloth to keep the woodpeckers off. They changed one or two out a couple years back and still used the pine poles. I guess mine will be switched over to concrete one of these days. Hey, I'd rather have to look at concrete than those grotesque galvanized trussworks that you see trashing up the landscape.

Gertguy, yes those fly tags work well. Don't remember the active ingredient, or the name of the tags. I used tags called python magnum for two years. I don't remember the active ingredient in them either, but was advised to change active ingredients every two years. The pythons were blue. The pythons cost less, only required one. The silver tags required two (one in each ear, shown in the pic). I used the silver ones last year and will use again this year. Then in '09 switch back to the pythons. OK, I just googled python magnnum and they use pyrethroids. So, the silver tags must use an organophosphate. I've been well satisfied with both.
