upset of the day--so far.

Bama goes down. Where is the D in college these were suppose to be two of the best Ds yet we have 80 points on the board. UCLA and BYU are in a tight game.

No I didn't see that game just the score and the int to end the game. My guess would be that the O was that bad, but I dunno.

Offense is the word of the day now. And too many rules have been changed to benefit the offense.

Them's some ugly stats on both D and O and for both teams. Almost as if both teams tried hard not to win.

You got to watch a good one Joe, and the Bulldogs will undoubtedly move up in the rankings with 'bama's loss, tho the UGA/SC was a complete mismatch with a Top 25 unranked opponent. Prior to yesterday's games, Georgia was ranked #5 and SC was ranked #42 in the Top 128.
Might as well get the 2015 trash talk started.
This was a Tier 1 team (top 6) against a Tier 4 team (#35-49).
It was definitely a cupcake game, but it did make Georgia did look awful good especially Lambert (24 of 25 pass completions) BUT, before this game, he had passed for less than 150 yards in any of his 2015 games. This was not a good or accurate game indicator of Ga's offensive strength, but more an example of their defensive strength and SC's lack of offensive abilities. They should have, were expected to win big and did, but I am very surprised SC was able to score 20 pts on a top 5 team.
:hide:

As always things are beginning to shake out a bit from those, always ridiculous, preseason predictions. The top pic out of the PAC 12, USC, looked terrible. Here's hoping Sark is feeling the hot seat. Bama isn't done losing this year, but this week they will only fall to 6 or 7 in the polls. Ohio state will lose at least one this year. The Ducks will lose two more if they don't get their defense fixed, particularly their DB's.

The question is who #1 this week? Ohio St? LSU? Ole Miss? Someone else?

Alan add TCU to those teams that will lose some games.

A loss to Texas Tech maybe? Their offense looks really sharp when it's clicking. Will have to find some defense to hang with TCU...I enjoy watching the red raiders though.

Alan, I believe the question is will anyone survive the SEC without a loss. LSU looks strong, what Ole Miss did was amazing, and Georgia shouldn't have a worry until conf championship...but SEC always seems to do a number on itself from within

Yep, the Buckeyes only winning over #78 (tier 6) by 7 pts has got to cast a bit of doubt over their program this year--at least for this week anyway.

Same can easily be said for TCU. Thru 3 qtrs, #110 SMU (a tier 7 nobody) played TCU surprisingly close. Should have been a cupcake game for the Horned Frogs, and the final score does look like it, but the game did not. So far TCU is allowing 20 pts/game so they better gel together-- Red Raiders are next on their schedule and their last 2 games are against Okla and Baylor. .

LSU looked to be the strongest and best balanced team of the games I watched. The remainder of their schedule is a mixed bag, with the next 5 being fairly weak teams:
Syracuse
Eastern Michigan
South Carolina
Florida
Western Kentucky
Alabama
Arkansas
Ole Miss
Texas A&M

What does Tier 4,5,7 etc mean? I've heard of Divisions but never tiers. Help me out here.

No--cupcake was determined by this last week's power rankings (as they stood just prior to this weekend's games)

Tiers are just a way to differentiate the teams that are either ranked top 5 or have a good chance of making the top 5, 25 etc from all the also rans. It keeps ya from saying a small school that absolutely plays nobody should be highly ranked simply because they are undefeated or only lost one game--like Marshall was last year (Finished the year 13-1).

(This is FBS top 128 power rankings as of yesterday (Saturday) morning)

Bama fell further than I thought they would. Stanford handles USC and are still ranked two spots below them. My Ducks beats up a big cupcake and falls a spot...... Okay I can understand that one. I do think LSU the team to beat in the SEC. Also at the very early point in the season I have to pull for Michigan St, the better they do the better the Ducks look....... And the Ducks need a lot of work. :?
