So, I lost my phone the moments before we left for the place of no oxygen and extra Ultraviolet radiation known as the Rocky Mountains. I looked as long as I could and then made the call that it would just have to be lost until we returned.
I felt the shakes coming on about the 2nd hour. By the time we stopped to eat, I was sweating a little, unknowingly patting my pockets. As we stopped for the night, I got a small fix by using my wife's while she was sleeping. Day 2 was bad, couldn't sleep, couldn't eat. My wife's phone, even when I could steel it was out of network and the cabin we we're staying in didn't have wifi. Day 3 was just ugly, I won't go into detail here.
By day 4, I was starting to want to get out of bed. Even enjoyed a little fishing. By day 5, I was completely weaned. Didn't even want to look at the map on my wife's phone. I was proud that I kicked that nasty habit. Even learned that we have a 3rd kid.
While I'm thinking about it, why do they call it vacation? Vacation: an extended period of recreation, especially one spent away from home or in traveling.
When children are involved, they should either redefine the term or call it something different. Like maybe, Childcation: an extended period that feels like a much longer extended period, where children may actually off their parents through physical exertion, sleep deprivation or finding their whits end.
They did wear me out, but it was a ton of fun.
Anyway, upon returning home, I did find my phone under the couch. But I'm still phoneless as apparently it broke while finding it's way there.
It's so nice not knowing what's going on outside of 50 ft from me. I kinda like being unplugged most of the day and am not in a hurry to mess it up.
