I know many of you already know this, but in case someone doesn't, let me put it back out there.... this product is LEGIT. This product was a game changer for us years ago when I fell into it rather accidentally. Every year it amazes me. I use a layered fly program, rotational grazing, IGR blocks, etc.... but whenever the flies build - and they always do - 30 cc / head of this stuff knocks em out in 24 hours and lasts weeks. Flies one day, gone the next. Works on all of em too. Horn flies, face flies, stable flies. Gone. I love it when you actually can see when something your paying for actually does what it's supposed to.

Mineral on the other hand... which I spend a fortune on and wonder what it's actually doing for me..... (I realize that trigger won't just be allowed to sit there :) )

Ive sprayed ultraboss out of that gun I talk about all the time on here. Just cube them and go down the line.

I agree it works good and the longevity is very dependent on the conditions.

Down side, imo, is its not cheap. Its great if you are banding calves and want to keep the flies off for a couple weeks. Trying to keep it on the herd regularly in some conditions will break the bank in my experience.

It’s good until it rains, then you have to repeat. Kinda hard when you have cattle on pastures with no corrals that you don’t see every week.
Mixing it with diesel fuel or mineral oil helps with that.

Also, the main ingredient in Ultra Boss is Permethrin, which you can buy generically and mix with a synergist such as PBO. @Jeanne - Simme Valley posted a homemade formula some time ago.

You can get gallon jugs of both on domyown.com. About $300 for both products. You can spray a lot of cows with that much.

The stuff works very quickly and as mentioned the oil or surfactant helps if it rains or if they get in the pond.

My place is set up in one area to where the herd has to move through a smallish pen when they rotate to another pasture. I let in 8 to 10 at a time into this pen where I can get them sprayed good. It goes quickly and I can do 80 or so animals in a hour or so. The cows quickly realize that to get to the next pasture with good grass they have to go through the process so they are not difficult to catch. Well at least most of them anyway.
