Units of U.S. Semen Sold, Exported, and Collected

I was surprised that we imported so little semen.
Belgian Blues being the primary breed. There are pretty good Australian Herefords, European Limousins, South African Simmentals, etc out there to choose from. Is the low numbers due to BSE and other concerns or just too a lack of interest.

Just curious, wonder which state leads the US in semen sales or to put it another way more semen is sold in which state?? I know what my ai rep told me.

Well, Texas has the most cattle. But there are several big Angus breeders in Kansas that do a lot of AI work. Can I guess both? :P That's for beef semen. I'd assume California for dairy semen.

Wish we could get a few more South Devon bulls semen from the UK. Purchased some semen in Edmeston Homer the other day. He should cross well over my girls. The semen catalogues here never change much for South Devons. Still looking for a Tarentaise to try. There are two bulls available and they don't look much.

Frankie, believe it or not(it was hard for me to believe) its my home state-- Tennessee. At least thats according to my Genex rep who has been selling semen for a lot of years.
