Last Thursday 2 of my wife’s friends from Oklahoma came up to help clean and get things ready to sell around the houses,
Her mother came with them. She had been in some pain from pulling on a dresser a while before their trip. She was having a hard time moving around and in an increasing amount of pain. Finally today my wife’s sister got their mother talked into going to the local er to get an x ray. They said she had broken a vertebrae, they gave her a steroid shot, and put a back brace on her.
Not sure how this is going to work as the other ladies are probably going to be driving back to Oklahoma this weekend, according to her sister they said she could travel with the back brace.

I bet that's it. I know people that do that too... as they get into their 80s. Older sister is there and has broken wrists due to falls recently.
My grandmother had osteoporosis and had an awful time of it. She got real stooped over. My mother had it too but not as bad.
Mother in law is 74, we can tell she’s declined just within a few months,

Gettin' old is a *itch. Stay active and monitor your systems... and if you have to, change your habits.

I have a friend that has a family history of osteoporosis. She insisted the Dr test her at one point and the Dr said she was too young. With her persistence (and to the Dr's annoyance) the Dr had her tested. Well, the doctor had a lot of crow to eat then. Had she not been tested, it would have gotten very bad. As it is, I think my friend now takes an estrogen supplement and calcium supplements, or something like that, which has effectively stopped and I believe reversed the osteoporosis.

Welcome back... where ever have you been????

It's called furlough. Its a disease that breaks out occasionally within those employed in the public service sector known as the federal government and effects all members. Its cause derives from individuals chosen by the public that are supposed to work together to solve problems for the public who forget that they are all supposed to work together and find a solution that works for all and instead take a stance that its my way or the highway and refuse to interact with others that are also chosen by the public to do the same thing. ;) I didn't have good access to the forum as a result considering I have Cattle Today access intertwined with my government access. I'll have to work on that.

The disease episode was the worst one on record lasting 43 days with a very real relapse potential occurring on January 31, 2026.

I'm sorry Mark... The idi**s that have bought into the idea that "compromise is losing" have lost their grip on reality... and I might add, have no understanding of what conservative thinking is all about. We have become managed as a herd instead of being individuals that think.

She has breaks in 4 places. Two were healing and two must have been more recent.

Year's ago My 90+ grandfather was getting into my uncle's pickup to go to a ball game, grabbed the "oh sit" handle to pull up on as he stepped up to enter the cab. Broke his arm mid way between his elbow and wrist.

Getting old is not for the weak...
