I just cannot believe this just happened.

I was putting away a glass measuring cup, I opened the cupboard and out fell a different glass cup. It landed right on top of my glasstop cook stove.
Luckily when it hit I had my eyes closed so when the top shattered I didn't get any glass in my eyes.

My daughters chore is to put away the clean dishes. She just shoved this cup into the cupboard and shut the door so it wouldn't fall back out. It fell out.

Now I get to get a new stove, not my dream dual fuel dual oven 48" stove, but a different one. *sigh*

daughter is safely in her room.

I'm going to go find a stiff drink and look at stoves online.
Worse is yet to come, hubby isn't home yet and doesn't know what happened.
 
That would be enough to make a person cry. "daughter is safely in her room." Those kids do the dangest things.

Good luck finding a stove.

That could have been soo bad.Glad noone was hurt.. Well,pocketbook got hurt.. I'd always wondered about that,now I know the answer is "yes,they can/will break".
 
Got a new stove, but it is being shipped. :?
Going to get it on Wednesday.

Hubby wanted to go get out my older stove that has been sitting up in a shed for about 5 years.
Told him no way. He really tried to convince me until I told him that he gets to clean it out and check the wires for any damage from mice. Told him the first time I fired up the oven and we smelled something he gets to find the mouse I just cooked.
He changed his mind. ;-)
 
I'm just glad that it happened last night and not this coming Friday. We are branding on Saturday. Boy would that have been a super mad rush.

RBB I deal with quite a few gross things, but looking for a baked mouse is not high on my list of things to do. :D ;-)

I have a glass top and to stop things like this happening my Husband removed all cupboards from above it, and put in an extractor fan, has been safe like this for 23 years, I have a new one in the garage and wondering when I might ever get to use it, I reckon it will come with us boxed up when we move in 18months, so I am told. Anything that might fall out of cupboards and is breakable go in the bottom cupboards.
ps sorry to hear that Ilh....but at least you got a new stove. ;-)
 
I checked it out online and it would cost over $500.00 to replace the top and the element under where the worst of the damage is.

So for $300.00 I upgraded my stove. Not bad.

Jo just do what I did and move things so nothing falls on it. The measuring cup fell about 2 1/2 feet. They have been put in a different cupboard.
I really love the glasstop stove it is so much easier to clean then the old coil element stove. I always hated trying to keep the drip pans clean, even covering them with aluminum foil didn't do it.

Chrisy I wish I had a vent fan in my house, but there is so limited space there is no place to put it.

Did you get the double oven that you wanted Jo ?

I love my new range and would not trade it for anything, one of the best birthday presents hubby has ever gotten me. Yes, it has a glass top, but I also do not have kids... :lol2: Well one 250 + pounder one, but he doesn't put dishes away.. ;-)

ILH , thank goodness no one was hurt and now you get a new stove.. :D

Well to his credit he is 6'5" tall, which is a good thing since I am almost 6'. But he is a big kid and acts like one too most of the time.. :help: ;-)

Nuthin wrong with that HD. Would you rather have a grumpy old fart on your hands?NaHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

BTW I figured he had to be tipping the scales pretty hard after seeing how he made the front wheels toe out on the ATV.........LOLOLOLOL

Oh and one last thought. Please tell him I was just kiddin......I plan to get up that way some day and i'd like to come back alive, not squished or sumthin. :help:

Amazing the accidents that can happen in and around a household when someone is wanting something new. :lol2:
 
well HD dont feel bad my brother is 6`1 his ex wife is 5`11 1 daughter is 5`11 the other daughter is 5`7 theres a boy thats 6`3 or a tad taller an the baby boy is 6`2.

That's a great point TB, I've been wanting a new lap top... oh shoot, my old one accidentally fell on the floor 4 times and got stepped on twice..... what a run of bad luck in the last few minutes..... Hello Dell! :banana: :banana: :banana:

Don't joke that has really happened to me my lap top fell on the floor and cracked the screen and the plug was in the charger a blue flash came out and cooked the mother board, you try telling the insurance company. The ins and outs they want to know, and I have to pay out to find out what I already know before they will even contemplate paying out. So if it aint broke don't fix it. and as the hard drive has a lot of personal stuff on it I don't want people I don't know going down it, so I have put it down to experiance, and bought a new one, and hang the insurance. Not insuring this one and saving myself a fair bit of money, as they are so cheap now days. What with the indemnity and repairman costs it was only a few £'s more. not worth the hassle. I got one for my Son on a contract deal by buying broad band from the company and the computer was free, a bit like the mobile phone deals, so can't be bad, as I use his broadband on mine to.
ps mine was a year old Dell, so didn't need a new one yet.
