I just threw out a bottle of expired tylosin. Someone told me that I should have kept it because it gets stronger after it expires and use simply use less. To me, that sounds strange. I know that most drugs are ok for some time after they expire. I just do not like to take chances with the animals and the antibiotics. Has anyone ever heard this? If so, how do you know how much less to use if the strength of the medicine continues to increase?

I've never heard that either...and as cheap as Tylosin is, I don't see any reason to not throw it away.

that is what I thought too. The individual that said this to me is also telling other people the same thing. Kids and their families in our livestock club. I am going to call the vet on monday. I just do not want someone that does not know any better doing some poor animal harm because of bad advice. I figured most people on here self medicate their cattle and might have some more info.

I have heard of it causing an even worse reaction site lump that usual after date. I would not use it. Alot of better drugs out there.
