Beat them up all you like, I didn't breed them, they aren't herd builders for me. I just bought them cheep. They are nice and friendly.

Kadee the 3rd pic has a tucked up belly, not as much volume as the other.

They both should calve real close to their 2nd birthday in May and June. I thought $1650 each was a good deal for my area.

Here those same ones at the barn I buy at that does preg check they would have been about 1300-1400 Red hydes are not a good seller here may even been cheaper but you dont see many herfs here. They sell bred blk angus here for 1700-1850 at sales I have been too. I would have bought them at 1650 here though but they would never had gotten that high lol

I thought that extra leg would be like lamb and add carcass value .Sky, I bought these private treaty Registered & halter broke. Bred to a Reg. Bull.

I try to avoid the sale yards.

I gotcha.. I never understood why people hate the sale barns. There is money to be made that others have left on the table at sale barns. However, You do have to be careful and know what your are doing or you can get screwed.

I would say $1650 looks real cheap for bred heifers in view of the fact I netted $1400 for some cull heifer calves - weaned 4 weeks weighing just over 600 lb.

Look like they will do their job.

Didn't anyone tell you Herefords are born halter broke? :)

fixed for ya :D just kidding

I do like the heifers.

I thought it worked for me, I don't need any "high-headed" cows around here.

I hauled 5 ton alfalfa home today from the Yakima area and my hay contact said he paid $1600/head for 10 year old, broken mouth cows (he bought 8 ) at the Toppinish Sale yard yesterday. Told me if keep hitting home runs he's gonna raise my hay prices. "Don't forget I jump started your tractor this morning" I said. :)

I have had 2 hay guys already tell me this year they are going up on hay because of the prices were getting for cows.

I know M5, but this guy and I spend an hour BS'in and 20 min. loading hay. Prices are high enough on hay already with the export market. Maybe the Port slowdown will help local prices.
