Had a cow have twin heifers for her second calving cycle. (First live birth twins I ever had in 35 years of raising beef cattle) Since the heifers are twins, does this increase the chances of them having twins?
#29 and #36 in my herd are twin heifers. Both are 10 1/2 years old and highly fertile. They calve in an average of about 10 month 3 week intervals. Neither has ever had a set of twins. Glad I have them two.
Actually it does increase their chances but only slightly. Since the % is so very low you probably will never see a difference between them and other non twin heifers.
