At work I watched an auction on RFD TV----a 4/5 month hefer calf,Braman X , sold for 18,000$--Yes,thats right $18,000  She was some high % bucking bull bred!! Others sold for $4,000/$5,000 Mabe thats what I should rase on my imagnary ranch.....

I went to a beef clinic back in the spring and there were several bucking bull breeders there. They are spending upwards of $2000 per straw for semen. Sounds like it's a gamble to me. At $30 per straw on average, I can take my registered calves to the local barn and come out ok, but I just don't see spending 2 Grand on semen. Sounds like the cattle aren't the only ones who are a little nuts. ;-)

saw a few minutes of that auction. funny that mongrel heifer would be lucky to bring 400.00 at the barn. but put her on national t.v. and hoop and hollar and look out

The bucking bull thing is going to make the first ones in rich and the last ones in bankrupt. I mean, how many bucking bulls do we really need? Enough for a few cowboys to ride and that is about it. Plus, you need eight foot tall pipe fences to keep those rank cattle in and who would ever think of eating one...talk about tough dark cutters! Anyone want to buy some Emus? ;-)
