Isowed my dry lot to turnips, when do I turn in my cow calf pairs, or should I save the turnips for my weaned calves next month?

Turnips contain a lot of moisture and protein. I always sow them in a blend with ryegrass and use it for calves.
Straight turnips might cause an upset. I have not tried it - - but I have heard of graziers using straight turnips for a couple hours per day.
