I am curious if anyone has any experience with Tubeline Equipment especially the BF5000SL round bale feeder/processor. I am looking at changing the way I feed and a dealer has a used one on their lot. I would like to know pros and cons from anyone who has one of these. I have seen Haybuster, Vermeer, and Dew Ezy models, but like the chainless idea, less wear items, and allows for a lower HP tractor to feed with.

I have one coming and I will have an informed opinion on this by Wednesday hopefully. For me it was a choice between Hustler and Tubeline, but price and dealer made the decision easy in the end. Hopefully it was the right decision.

Doing some research I think Hustler and Tubeline are basically the same units. If I read correctly Hustler sold some of the rights to Tubeline (Canada) to make it as well. Since then they both offer it USA. May I ask what a new one runs in your neck of the woods? The used one I found an hour away is a 2018 model and they want $12,500 for it. I have no idea what a Hustler would cost

Yes, apparently for some time Tubeline had an agreement to manufacture the Hustler bale feeder but there was some sort of a divorce and they have went their separate ways. According to Hustler they have continued to innovate and Tubeline has not. I don't know. But the Hustler was quoted to me at 24K, the Tubeline 18K. I added larger tires and I thought it would be a good idea to add the bar above the beaters to keep the bale on board. May have been a waste but I thought it might be one of those things Tubeline added because there was customer demand for it.

The bar looks like a good idea and something I'm sure you will like. The used one I found doesn't have the bar, but I'd like to add it. It seems like a rugged made piece of equipment that would last a long time. Please update me once you've had the chance to use it.

Is that the "Our Wyoming Life" guy?

I ordered the bale unroller because we feed a lot of baleage. By this time of year those bales are a real pain to unroll on a 3pt bale unroller. A lot of the time 1/3 of the bale gets left unrolled after much bouncing around over frozen turds trying to get them spread out. So I'm hoping to do a better job of getting it out there and used more efficiently.

No, I saw that he had one too. It is B r o o k h i l l Angus in Ky. He used to be on CT. I don't know if he got banned or he just left. He was the guy that thought his cattle were better than anyone else's. He obviously has $$ though.

Ahh, I wondered for a minute if that's who you were referring to. I don't remember him as going by *************, I thought it was Brookhilll. Pretty sure he was banned.

I was finally able to find "Branded" Angus. I have to agree he seems to have $$ to float on whatever he wishes. I do like the Huster feeder he has posted, but I don't think it's worth $7k more than a tubline..IMHO but that's just me.

So fed with the Tubeline today. It's going to take some getting used to. But it does unroll a frozen silage bale beautifully. It is nice to take 3 bales at a time out of the feedyard, with 2 on the feeder and one on the loader. Also like the way the cattle line up along the fed hay with very few cows walking down the middle. They tend to line up like they are at a bunk.
The top roller gathers quite a bit of twine (sisal), not sure how I'm going to like that, it's not that easy to get off. I'm wondering if I need to take it off. Might let it be for a couple of feedings and see if it continues to build up or if the scraper will only allow so much to build up.

I was wondering how it would work with string and net wrap, but figured maybe take it off the first bale before I left the stack yard to avoid the cows gathering around.
Do the bales need to be loaded in the way they unroll or does it matter?

I'm actually heading down Monday to the dealer to make a deal. Seems like everyone I have talked to likes them and wouldn't go back to whatever they used before. They say the chainless is hands down the way to go.

Keep us in the loop as you continue to use it for any tips and tricks.

The bales can be loaded either way, but they unroll a lot faster if loaded in the direction they unroll.
If a person were going to remove the strings I would definitely take the strings off the first bale in the stack yard. You would want to do it over the unroller bed with a little space between the bale and the bed.
It's going to be a bit of a trick using it on dry hay bales for me because I use sisal and the bale can fall apart in the loading process. definitely can't carry one on the forks of the machine, so finding it best to carry those bales out with the loader forks right underneath them, then try to load them where you want to feed them. Otherwise the stack yard could end up with a lot of wasted hay in it.

Hay grapple on your loader bucket allows you to remove net/twine wherever and pinch the bales and carry them around without losing much/any hay in the process.

Yes, I have a loader / grapple as well. But the bale feeder needs to load itself, so loading a bale with no strings is problematic.
