We are new to cattle and have heard this myth/story a couple of times. I do not believe this as it does not make sense but my question is: truth or fiction: bulls have a pattern of producing bull or heifer calves? We have spoken to some cattle breeders that say that their bulls are consistently producing bull calves and most of us want heifers. Sorry if this seems dumb but I was just curious. Thanks for any insite.

Some do.

Then sometimes you have a run of one gender one year, the next year you get the opposite gender from the same bull & cows. We had a bull we owned jointly with a breeder a couple hundred miles away. We got more than 75% bulls, he got more than 75% heifers.

I do not think it matters. You are going to get the ones you do not want.
As long as its up and walking it will be ok.

They produce X or Y chromosomes so it's possible to produce more X or Y semen.
Like old Henry the 8th that couldn't make a son if he tried.

Neighbor and were talking about this a couple weeks ago. Historically, with the same 2 sires, we've gotten about 50/50 heifer and bull calves. This year, 12 calves, only one was a heifer. Dunno why or what changed.
