A dairy farmer down the road has been using this for winter forage. Anyone on here with experience using it?

My FIL used to sow it instead of wheat. He said it grew more forage for grazing and on wet years it grew really well and made good hay too

Winter wheat and winter rye cross I believe.
It has very good food value which explains the dairy application.
I think winter rye is a better fit for the raising beef in the Polar Vortex.

I used some last year. I think its a great forage however I think Rye give you more total forage however Rye is very hard to come by so I would plant it again if I couldn't get Rye. I would mix it with another small grain like oats and not plant it by its self.
