There are several families from Central Texas that will be traveling to Louisville in June for the National Jr Santa Gertrudis Heifer Show. We don't feel we can drive straight thru, and are looking for a place to lay over somewhere between Little Rock, AR and Mephis, TN. Does anyone know how to go about looking for a place to unload the cattle for a night?

I cant remember who we stayed with last time we went to Louisville for our Jr nationals. But I'm going to advise you to do waht we did. Look for Gert breeder In the general area that you want to stop. It looks like there is one just north of Little Rock. Here is a link to that breeder. (actually all the contact info you need)

Just call them and let them know what you are doing and youd like to lay your cattle over for the night most breeders (even if they do not show) like to accomadate juniors. When weve done this they were always helpful to help us find a hotel eating places and give the best possible arrangements for the calves.
another alternative is to conatact the county extension agent in the counties youd like to lay over in. Some friends of ours have even put cattle up at county fairgrounds. Most cattle folk are very acccomadating.
Good luck and have fun.

You might try the Arkansas State Fairgrounds (Little Rock) or the Mid South Fairgrounds (Memphis). Also might look at county fairgrounds.
