I am thinking of buying some cows with small(150-250pds) calves. My trailer is only 16 feet with one seperator door. Should the calves be seperated? Also ,if I pay someone to haul the cows will it be allright to seperate the calves into my trailer? I am thinking the trip will take about 3 hours. Will the calves be all right for this length of time. any suggestions would be helpful

take half of them at a time and seperate, maybe one or two cows with the calves... dump them in a holding pen and go back for the rest.

The best way for 15 pairs with a 3 hour haul---hire a 32' gooseneck to haul the cows. You take the calves.

I'm with Texan.

Dump them all in a solid - SOLID - pen when you get home - with food and water. Let them mother up and keep them there for a few days before letting them out.

Have fun,

Bez

Agree... if you get them home and one calf sneaks out on you, your going to have a tough time keeping it's momma in the pen. Make sure where you put them is tight and calf proof. I prefer cattle panels opposed to rail type gates. I have also used hog panels, they are shorter but fine for calves.
