Tractor running rough...

I agree. probably a carb problem. clean it out real good, choke, sediment bowl, all of it. run some B12 through it.

I would like to add check the gas tank condition as to whether it has alot of trash in it that could be clogging up the lines.

Welp, spent a freezing morning going through the tractor. The problem was the distributor. I replaced the condenser, points and rotor. There was no gap in the points when I took the cap off. Anyway, how often on these older tractors would you have to change the distributor parts? 1000 hrs? It is a 1961...I vaguely remember doing distributor work on our cars with my dad when I was young and we did it every 12,000 miles. Anyway, lots of learning going on with me...thanks for all your help everyone!

Tim
Other then points you hardly ever have to replace anything. When you buy a set of points, anymore most of the time the condensor comes with them. I've only ever had one condensor go bad and that was in a 38 Plymouth

Quick question...I know you can't hear it but my Massey 35 starts to run rough when it heats up. It just started doing this after a few months of use. It looses a lot of power and speed as well. Could this be the choke? Or need a carb adjustment? I am not the most mechanical fella...but do know a little...enough to be dangerous. What would you guys focus on first??

Thanks,

Tim

Does it have a 4cyl Continental engine?
They are notorious for carb and point problems.
