Most parishes/counties have some really good people that work in the USDA and NRCS offices. Just thought I would post a sheet that my local NRCS rep. created for me. This sheet was for a 70 acre piece of land that I have a "contract" with them on. This sheet provides loads of data from expected forage production, to expected shortfall in production. This is all presented neatly by month, so that a cattlemen can review this and help determine his/her forage needs and or hay needs as well.

These NRCS people are a valuable tool for me, and I can't help but believe that they are a un-utilized tool for most cattlepeople. They always seem willing to help, and will make trips out to my place to give recommendations if I ask. Below is a form taken from my "Conservation Plan". Take the time to look at it. It may help your operation out to have a agency who's sole purpose is to help people like us.
