I took some pics today since it was pretty, even if it did get colder. I'm just happy I finally got to see the sunshine again. Anyhow, it has been a little while since I have posted any pics and thought I would share a few. Here is one of my Register Red Simmental Heifers.

Nice - Need a few more pics.

I did not know this. Just read it..
The breed is known by a variety of names, including "Fleckvieh" in Germany, Austria and Switzerland as well as many other European countries.

I don't want to pry too deep, but what General vicinity of west Ky are you in? Nice calf btw.

Cute! I like the reds, sad I do not have any in my herd any longer. How is she bred?

How far where you from the farms I visited while I was out there? We went to the Rocking P, Maple Leaf (Canada's), and Misty Meadows, to name a few.

Kris, Mike is farther west in western KY where the hillbillies are replaced by southern gentlemen who have white goatees and wear long black split tail coats. They think they are a notch up from us eastern hillbillies.

I bet Mike knows Rondal Dawson.

I 65 is the dividing line--------so I've been told.

Bigfoot - I'm in Caldwell County near Princeton.
Fire Sweep - Heifer Reg# is 2921521. Yes, I'm on the Western side of the state, not far from The Land Between the Lakes and 60 miles northeast of Murray State University. I do know of the operations you mentioned and have seen several of their cattle throughout different sales. I know several of them by face and may have talked to some of them at sales but haven't had a lot of time to get to know any of them or their operations much because of our locations.
Ron, You're right over here we're civilized, it's your part of the state that Justified relates too :D . I Love that show!
Here's another pic of another of our heifers.

Nice pics :) hope they do well for you.

They seem unusually blonde.. That's the typical Galbvieh/Limo color... they aren't reds at all.. Just an observation :)

Nesikep, Yes they do look blondish don't they. The A2 heifer is from 2 solid black Registered Simmental parents. Now the 2nd heifer there is a 1/2 Black Simmental, a 1/4 Gelbvieh and a 1/4 Red Poll. I really like that color, myself.

The A2 heifer might well have some Gelbvieh heritage there too.. she sure looks it. I like her better (at least in the pictures) from the second one

A lot of my cows are now Gelbvieh x Shorthorns (Or Saler), and you get some awesome tones of red from them.. Seems some have a blonde undercoat from the Gelbvieh and the dark red overcoat of the Shorthorn.. And a setting sun.. They sure look nice :)

That is what I been told too.

Here is the third one, she is a Reg. Simmental. She was in heat, therefore not a good pic. She is the shortest in length of the three but has the best personality of the three.

Here is a pic with all 3 of them.

frieghttrain, it is the photos especially with the first bull. I think I had another thread up with the bulls on it when they were older that had much better pics. Both of those bulls are sold now. Both sold really well and was really liked among visitors and neighbors. The first one sold to another Simmental Association member in Indiana and the other is near Owensboro, KY covering Hereford and Black Baldy commercial cows.

creekdrive, thanks I really like him. He did break our streak of blaze, star and snip faces. Never thought a solid black one would be the odd or different one in the pasture.
