Loch only when they get into big brush patches. Another reason I tattoo the numbers in the ears. Had a mother and daughter lose their tags together and hubby tagged them back wards.

Had our first pull last night. Out of a 7yo calf crazy cow. She had the water bag out and she was already passing the afterbirth.
Thought the calf was dead, had them this way before. Luckily calf was alive and very vigerous.
Turned the cow loose after pulling the calf and got out of her way. Calf was trying to stand about 8 minutes after birth.

Very light weight calves this year. Heaviest was 81 pounds the rest are between upper 60's to mid 70's.
