Hi, i just found this cattle site tonight, been browsing, replying and found this thread. i love gardening. it's a hobby and an obsession.
I have a tomato staking solution instead of those dang cages. check out Lee Valley on the web. they have these cool tomato stakes and they work real well.
this will be my third year with the same stakes
Good luck gardening this year

Have youe seen the tomatoes that grow upside down. This is to protect from vermen.

Hello,
I have seen them. They look pretty cool, but i don't have a place to hang them. So for now i'm hooked on the spirals.
Can't wait to start planting

Tried growing 1/2 dozen "Upside Down" tomato plants last year. The plant grew up the side of the bucket and when the weight of the fruit pulled the plants back down the stalks split and died.

Didn't work very well at all.

how awful MikeC. it's discouraging when something like that happens. do you have a new plan for this season?

Yea. I'm planting them in the ground like I always have.
