I realize vacs cost money and hurts our profitability, but isn't part of the point of vacs to eradicate the disease to begin with? Like polio in humans? So vacs could hurt OUR short term profitability (I actually don't think they do) for the LONG TERM health of the industry, right?

We vaccinate and deworm, and see them grow better for it. Better at the sale too.
I think it pays.
One calf dies or becomes a poor doer due to summer pnemonia can cost near as much as vaccinating.
costs us 1000.00 to do the whole herd(100 pairs plus bulls and replacements). calves wean bigger.
one lost calf can be 600-700 $ plus add in the cost to keep that cow for the winter and summer and you end up spending as much if not more in the long run.
