Show you how smart those old "former" Tennessee citizens were. Willing to go to war rather than live in Tennessee. Imagine how it is in the 21st century and the only song the dam band knows is "Rocky Top".

Well said and one of my ancestors was
one of those Tennessee boys that died on that wall March 6,1836.
Actually found a place worth fighting for.

Davey Crocket lost a bid for Congress after serving in the Tennessee Legislature (he was known to drink and being disagreeable). His final parting shot after losing was “You may all go to he// and I will go to Texas.”

And by golly, the whole country knows Rocky Top, seems like it works!

The real UT....

Micajah Autry my kinfolk rode in with him. Was the sharp shooter that missed Santa Anna.
Paid dearly for that shot.

Crocket was born about 30 miles from me and grew up about 5 miles from here (The Crocket Tavern has been preserved). He and his mother are on the roll of my grandparents' church where they were members.

All of the men at the Alamo were heroes and did a great service to its independence.
